Our Pastor

Rev. Quinton M. Herbert is the fourth pastor of the New Pilgrim Baptist Church in Baltimore City.

Educationally, he attended Arlington Baptist Schools in Baltimore County. He is also a cum laude graduate of “The National Treasure,” Morgan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and is a distinguished graduate of the Baltimore School of the Bible.  Rev. Pastor Herbert gave his life to Christ at the age of 7 during a Monday morning Chapel Service at Arlington Baptist School. He grew in the faith under the pastoral leadership of his grandfather, mentor and friend, Rev. John F. Mott, Sr. at the Christway Primitive Church of God. He preached his first sermon at the tender age of eleven. He was also influenced greatly in his formative years by his uncle and current pastor, Rev. Dr. Carl L. Washington, Sr.

After the death of his grandfather, Pastor Herbert spent ten years running from the call that God placed on his life. In 2005, Pastor Herbert answered the call of God and preached his initial sermon in the Baptist Church. He served as an Associate Minister at The Rising Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Theodore D. Addison, Sr. from 2005-2009. He answered the call of the Lord to organize the Christway Christian Baptist Church in the summer of 2009. He was ordained in 2010. He served faithfully as the organizing pastor of CCBC until he was called to pastor the New Pilgrim Baptist Church in 2020.

Pastor Herbert serves as the Treasurer of the United Baptist Missionary Convention & Auxiliaries of Maryland.  Additionally, he is an active member of the Ministers' Conference of Baltimore & Vicinity and the Baptist Ministers' Night Conference of Baltimore & Vicinity.  Rev. Herbert is also a member of several other community, civic, and fraternal organizations.

Professionally, Pastor Herbert is an esteemed attorney garnering a number of professional awards and accolades including: The National Black Lawyers-Top 100 Award, American Institute of Legal Counsel “10 Best” Labor and Employment Law Attorney for Maryland Region, and the Maryland Daily Record Leadership in Law Award Recipient. Pastor Herbert is also an American Arbitration Association A. Leon Higginbotham Fellow. He also serves on a number of Boards for specialty and non-profit organizations.

Pastor Herbert is married to the former Maria Atkins and together God has blessed them with three beautiful children, Britney, Alicia and Quinton John-Isaac and two granddaughters, Eden and Alaya.

Pastor Herbert’s life verse is 2 Timothy 2:15- “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” Reverend Herbert is a husband, father, preacher, teacher, author, and impeccable attorney. Most importantly of all, Reverend Herbert is a child of the King and a vessel of our Lord.
